Digital and Tech Solutions Apprenticeship

As a large employer in West Oxfordshire within the aviation industry, we recognise the importance of establishing strong relationships within the local community and supporting future development.

The Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship is a unique programme combining honours level education with workplace learning.

The course entails a first year in which the apprentice builds fundamental skills and knowledge before specialising in the Digital and Technology field to facilitate expert knowledge and career progression.

The course will deliver against the nationally recognised Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship standard. The course is suitable for both new recruits (eg school leavers entering into the industry) and for developing existing and aspiring IT professionals already in employment, who do not have a relevant digital degree.

Course details

The apprenticeship is usually delivered over four years. However, it will depend on the previous experience of each apprentice.

Apprentices will attend University for a five-day block, three times per year throughout the first three years and in the final year this decreases to one five-day block when carrying out a company specific project.

At the start of the course, Apprentices will attend University on a full-time basis for a 12 week ‘boot-camp’ period, to provide our apprentices with the foundations to become digital professionals and begin work within industry.

The final assessment consists of a final work-based investigation and report to ensure that the apprentice is ready to join the profession with full occupational competence.

Eligible candidates must hold GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English language at grade C or grade 4, or above , along with one of the following:

  • 112 UCAS points including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications
  • 96 UCAS points from three A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications
  • Access to HE Diploma with at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2. At least 15 Level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above, from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate.
